Welcome to October!!! Can it really be October ?– how quickly September came and went. Hopefully, everyone is settling into a routine, and things are feeling somewhat normal again for you and your sons. At my household, we are excited for the October 5th hybrid school to start. We all may be taking baby steps these days, but going forward is what matters most!!!!!
I hope you were able to join us for our First Virtual Mothers' Club Tea and, if so, learned a lot about the activities and events the Mothers Club supports. Though this year may be different, we are still moving forward with so many of them, and I hope that you will be there with us.
A huge thank you to; Corren Johnson, Zelda McCormick, Aggie Wojdon, Veronica Deza, Jonnae Green, Thadine Coyne, and everyone that helped to make our Virtual Tea a success. It was so lovely to see so many new and familiar faces!!!! I hope, if you joined us, you have been thinking about where you might fit in at the Mothers Club. We welcome you with open arms.
A special thank you to Patti Schwartz and Jennifer Walker for coming up with a creative way to still make Morning Munchies happen for our beloved MSJ faculty and staff!!!! They did a great job! If you are interested in helping on this committee, please look for the sign-up information on the Facebook page and this newsletter. Our next one is right around the corner on October 9th!!!
And yes, it is true – this month, we kick off our first-ever virtual Mothers' Club Book Club, featuring the book, What Though the Odds. Join us on October 20th to discuss this fabulous book with the author and one of our very own members, Haley DeMaria. The Zoom link will be sent out before October 20th.
Finally, please join us on Tuesday, October 6th, at 7 pm, for our Mothers' Club Monthly Meeting via zoom. Please visit the meeting calendar to register and get the meeting link. Come join us as we catch up with each other, make new friends, learn more about the Mothers' Club. This month's guest speaker, Katie Watts, from our Counseling Department, will share some tips on managing the current times and moving forward.
As always, please feel free to reach out to me with any questions, concerns, or suggestions – I would love to hear from you!! See you on the 6th.

Faculty Special Events
Last month we distributed individual Morning Munchie bags, containing various items such as granola bars, fruit cups, and chips, to the faculty and staff. They were a huge hit! Teachers and staff were thrilled to get them.
Even with MSJ going to the hybrid learning plan, we will continue with the individual bag concept to reduce contact.
How can you help? Donations will be sent/delivered to a volunteer’s house where the bags will be assembled. Once assembled, the bags will be delivered on a specific date and time to MSJ by the parent and taken to the designated distribution spots for faculty and staff to pick up at their convenience.
Be on the lookout for a sign-up genius with links and information for items to purchase and donate!
As always, thank you for your support!
Saluting Our Mount Men
The Saluting Our Mount Men Tribute Book (SOMM) is a “yearbook supplement” that was created by the MSJ Mothers’ Club.
By purchasing a tribute ad, parents, grandparents, relatives, and friends can express their support for their MSJ students' accomplishments while supporting the school. All students, grades 9 through 12, are represented! These personal tribute pages are only available in the SOMM Tribute Book and NOT included in the annual MSJ yearbook! Ads from clubs, homerooms, and teams are encouraged. Every student will receive a free copy of the 8 ½" x 11" book in the spring of 2021.
Students are always excited and appreciative when they see their ads!
The MSJ administration is working on a plan to distribute last year’s SOMM book to the students. Once the details are available, we will post them on the Mothers’ Club Facebook page.
Proceeds from the SOMM Tribute Book help fund MSJ Mothers' Club's commitment to supporting the MSJ endowment. This endowment provides tuition assistance to students and assists special projects that directly help MSJ's students and school community.
*** The deadline to purchase an ad is October 25, 2020 ***
Purchase ads at the SOMM web page, msjnet.edu/parents/mothers-club/saluting-our-mount-men.
Information on ad sizes and pricing, ad examples, tips on creating your ad, and links to purchase ads online can also be found on the web page.
The online order form allows for credit card payments. Due to COVID-19, we prefer payment by credit card. Please contact [email protected] if you would like to discuss other options.
Special discount! MSJ Homerooms, Teams, and Clubs receive a special 50% off discount! Email the completed ad to [email protected].
Check for updates in the MSJ Mothers’ Club Newsletter and on the MSJ Mothers’ Club Facebook page, www.facebook.com/groups/MSJMothersClub.
The SOMM Committee is also looking for new members. It is a great way to get to know the school, meet some wonderful moms, and be involved. No experience necessary!
Contact us if you would like to help.
