Senior Recognition Event

Over the past few months, a group of Moms, representing all grades, have been meeting weekly to come up with a new Senior Recognition Event to replace the Fashion Show. We have an ooportunitiy to host this event in late March or early April.

To help guide the direction of this new event, a survey was conducted. Thank you to all who participated, the response was excellent, a cross section of 83 moms, shared their thoughts and opinions.

Here are a few of the highlights of the results. When asked what type of event would you want to attend to recognize senior parents the first choice was a  semi formal evening dinner event that included a game night (casino), dancing or other activity with a limited program. When asked who they would invite,  87% of the respondants wanted their spouse/significant other to attend, 48% would invite relatives and 18% would invite friends.

When asked if the Moms would participate in a video message to their sons, 58% indicated that they would. The sons were asked how they would honor their moms and 63% said they would write a special letter and 23% said they would create a video message.

These responses are have helped us to start shaping what a future senior event could be. If you are interested in being a part of this creative and excing group, please email me or just join us on the next zoom meeting on Thursday, November 5th at 7:30pm.

Book Club

Mothers' Club Book Club - December Selection- zoom meeting date will  be announced.

Book Synopsis: Lydia Quixano Pérez runs a bookstore in Acapulco, Mexico, where she lives with her husband, Sebastián, who is a journalist, and their son, Luca. When a man starts visiting her store, buying books and striking up a friendship, she has no idea initially that he will be responsible for turning her life upside down. But Lydia and Luca will have to flee Acapulco, setting them on a journey they will share with countless other Central and South Americans-turned migrants. There is very little I can say about this novel that hasn't already been said, and it hasn't even been published yet. The buzz has been building early, and when it does go on sale it will likely be one of the most talked about (and widely read) books of the year. From the colossal opening chapter to the epilogue, American Dirt is a novel of crisp writing, urgent pacing, and remarkable empathy. It deserves the attention of a large audience. —Chris Schluep, Amazon Book Review

Saluting Our Mount Men Tribute Book

Saluting Our Mount Men

The Saluting Our Mount Men Tribute Book (SOMM) is a “yearbook supplement” that was created by the MSJ Mothers’ Club.

By purchasing a tribute ad, parents, grandparents, relatives, and friends can express their support for their MSJ students' accomplishments while supporting the school. All students, grades 9 through 12, are represented! These personal tribute pages are only available in the SOMM Tribute Book and NOT included in the annual MSJ yearbook! Ads from clubs, homerooms, and teams are encouraged. Every student will receive a free copy of the 8 ½" x 11" book in the spring of 2021.

Students are always excited and appreciative when they see their ads!

The MSJ administration has distributed last year’s SOMM book to the students who were onsite on October 12 & 13th.  Additional distributions will be made to those who are distance learning.

Proceeds from the SOMM Tribute Book help fund MSJ Mothers' Club's commitment to supporting the MSJ endowment. This endowment provides tuition assistance to students and assists special projects that directly help MSJ's students and school community.

*** Update: Although the deadline was October 25th, if you are still interested, please email [email protected]

Purchase ads at the SOMM web page,

Information on ad sizes and pricing, ad examples, tips on creating your ad, and links to purchase ads online can also be found on the web page.

The online order form allows for credit card payments. Due to COVID-19, we prefer payment by credit card. Please contact [email protected] if you would like to discuss other options.

Special discount! MSJ Homerooms, Teams, and Clubs receive a special 50% off discount!  Email the completed ad to [email protected].

Check for updates in the MSJ Mothers’ Club Newsletter and on the MSJ Mothers’ Club Facebook page,

The SOMM Committee is also looking for new members. It is a great way to get to know the school, meet some wonderful moms, and be involved. No experience necessary!

Community Outreach

Community Outreach

In November we focus on giving thanks for our many blessings! Please consider supporting one of the MSJ Community Service opportunities below.

2020 Thanksgiving Dinner for My Brother’s Keeper

We are thrilled that our annual Thanksgiving Dinner Tradition will live on, with a little twist. Our menu will largely stay the same – a full, hot Turkey and Ham dinner with ALL of the “fixings” and desserts, but instead of a sit down style dinner, MBK will serve guests a hot  “to go” meal.

Please consider volunteering to prepare some part of this wonderful feast by accessing the Sign Up Genius below.

We are very excited to help make this Thanksgiving a special one for our Irvington neighbors!

MSJ Student Organizations Charity Drive

We intended to launch our own toiletry drive this month, however, are proud to say our boys beat us to it!

As Baltimore’s vulnerable population grows amidst the pandemic and the weather becomes colder, Mount Saint Joseph’s students are seeking to help. Members of the Student Council, XBSS, and NHS have worked to organize a Thanksgiving Charity Drive to support those in need in our community. These items will be distributed to local shelters and soup kitchens the day before Thanksgiving.

Please contribute any of the following new and unused items from 7:00-7:55 AM to the Fine Arts Lobby:

COVID19 Grab N Go Lunches

My Brother’s Keeper is 1 block from MSJ. The address is: 4207 Frederick Ave, Baltimore 21229.

MSJ News

Ever wonder where the monies from the dress down days go? For many years those dollars have gone to purchase Christmas gifts for the families in need at St. Bernardine's Church.

Each year, through the funds raised during the dress down days and generous donations from staff and families, the MSJ community has provided gifts for more than 75 families in need from St. Bernardine's parish.

This Christmas, we will once again support the families in need at St. Bernardine's. Like many traditional activities supported through our in-person activities, this is one more casualty of the pandemic that has made us rethink how we proceed. Since the student body is engaged in distant learning, the dress down days that would have usually supported this effort have not taken place.

This year, we seek donations of Walmart gift cards in $50 increments in place of gifts or adoption of families. The goal to support the same number of families is $20,000 or 400 gift cards.

Your generosity will make all the difference this Christmas for a family. Please fill out the sign-up to ensure the business office can account for all of the donations. Sign up here.

Your gift card can be delivered to the MSJ Business office by December 10th.
